Is there a global standard for grading used containers?

Currently, there is no global standard for grading used containers. Boxhub works with the most common system, which offers four easy-to-understand container grades.

Boxhub is working with industry bodies like the NPSA and CTIA to establish a global standard that will help bring even more transparency to the container industry in the future.

We understand that “container grading” can be confusing — especially as a first-time buyer. To make it as simple as possible for you to buy a container, Boxhub works with the most common system and offers only four easy to understand container standards:

  • New "one-trip" containers
  • Cargo-worthy containers
  • Wind & watertight containers
  • As-is containers

These are the standards most commonly used in the industry and are understood by all of our suppliers. For a detailed breakdown of each condition, consult our container buying guide.
